A Breath of Fresh Art is a swanky evening of art, culture, lively entertainment, culinary delights and signature martinis! Paintings created by local children battling cystic fibrosis (CF) will be auctioned off to a backdrop of endless interactive entertainment. Soak in the vibe on event night by enjoying dancers, local artists, music and surprises around every corner. Join Charlotte’s social butterflies for a night to remember!

The History of Breath

A Breath of Fresh Art was started in 2005 by Kassandra & Tony Ulchar, owners of Applewood Gallery in Charlotte, NC. After learning that their niece, Elizabeth, was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, the two were determined to use their resources and talents to better her life, and A Breath of Fresh Art was born.

The show has grown each year, and in 2009 we anticipate up to 300 participants to gather at Hart Witzen Gallery for the big night.

Budding Artists

While A Breath of Fresh Art features a variety of items in both our live and silent auction, ranging from local artists, restaurant certificates and amazing experiences, the main event is the childrens' art.

Fifteen local children battling Cystic Fibrosis create artwork that will be auctioned at the event. This year, featured childrens' art will be both canvas paintings and painted pottery.

Applewood Gallery and Dish It Out, two local Charlotte establishments and 2009 sponsors for A Breath of Fresh Art, will host the kids and donate the materials so that these children can enjoy the experience of creating a finished work of art.

Live and Silent Auction

During the evening, guests will have the opportunity to bid on a variety of items in both our live and silent auction. All items sold at auction benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

All guests are welcome to bid on any items of interest. You do not have to be present at the end of the evening in order to win an item from the silent auction. The live auction will take place at 9:00pm.

If you would like to donate an item to the auction, download the Auction Donation Form and email or fax it to the CF Foundation.

65 Roses Raffle

This year's event will feature a unique "65 Roses" raffle. Guests may purchase raffle tickets in advance or at the door. For details on purchasing raffle tickets, click here.

Only 65 tickets (symbolized by a numbered rose) will be available, and tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. The winning raffle number will be selected at the end of the evening; you do not have to be present to win.

The 65 Roses Raffle is a chance for you to win a premier getaway package. Package details are coming soon. Raffle tickets are $50 each.

Why "65 Roses"?

Many children with Cystic Fibrosis learn to say the name of their disease as "sixty-five roses". This term has been adopted by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Read the full story.
